Stylicious Scale of Fab to Mehh for September

Oh dear, it’s nearly the end of October and I still haven’t posted this!

I wanted to do a quick post of my favourites and not so favourites for September so, starting with the best

I have quite a few bits that I have been loving in September, 7 to be precise.

1. Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

I love Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, it’s the best cleanser and makeup remover I have ever used. It takes off all the grime and leaves my face really smooth. I only use it once a day, at night, to take off my make up and I have just run out and I now have a dilemma… knowing that I’ll be getting some for Christmas do I order some more or do I wait..??

2. Bliss Daily Moisturizer

This is a daily moisturizer with SPF 15. I first bought it a few months ago because it’s the perfect size and shape for taking on holiday in my hand luggage. It feels light on the skin and I love the smell – it’s kind of orangey and every time I smell it it’s like I’m on holiday again. It also claims to illuminate the skin but I don’t know about that, all I know is as a daily moisturiser for summer I love it, although for winter I’m gonna have to move on to something a bit heavier

3. Christian Dior – J’adore Eau de Parfum

I bought this to wear at my wedding as I was looking for something fresh and floral and jasminey because I absolutely love the smell of jasmines. As you can see I don’t have a lot left and I think this is gonna be a repurchase as it’s one of my favorite scents now

4. Ainhoa Caviar Concentrate with Diamond Powder

I got this in my Glamourum beauty box. It’s only a sample size, 5ml, but I have been using it as a serum before my moisturiser at night and it is amazing! I use the mini pipette to dab on a drop on each cheek and one on my forehead then rub it in and it leaves my skin so soft, it’s just fab. I would love to repurchase but firstly, I don’t know where I can get it from and secondly it’s pretty pricey.

5. Chanel Quartz nail polish

Love the colour, it’s so unusual. Have worn it a few times since I bought it, it’s not usual for me to repeat a colour so soon so this must be a keeper.

6. Urban Decay – Glide on cheek tint in SCORE

The day I bought this I wasn’t actually looking for a blush, or in fact anything at all but I bought it just to stop the Urban Decay MUA from plastering the whole collection onto my face. I did forget about it for a while but when I did get around to using it not only was I pleasantly surprised, I actually really like this product. I would say it’s kind of a cream blush with a touch of sparkle in a pinky peach colour. It’s so easy to use, I just apply it with my fingertips and I even use it on bare skin. It blends easily and I love the colour.

7. Benefit – Creaseless cream shadow in Sippin n Dippin

I believe this colour is discontinued but you can pick it up on one of the discount websites. This stuff is great for me, I am always in a rush in the morning so being able to pop a little of this on to my eyelids with my fingers and be ready to go is a dream come true. The golden peachy colour has been fab for summer although I may be retiring it for the winter.

Could do better

Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminée – 1st Wrinkle Cream

I find night creams to be a bit too heavy for my liking so I like to use normal creams with no SPF at night jointly with some kind of serum. I think this is quite good, it hydrates really well and sinks nicely into the skin. The problem is the smell, I guess because it’s made of grapes, it kind of smells like grapes, well no, actually it smells more like raisins. It took me a while to get used to the smell but my husband absolutely cannot stand it, I don’t use this every day but when I do there’s generally no goodnight kiss for me 😦 I’d love this with a different or no smell.

Christian Dior – Gentle foaming cleanser

To be fair I’m a bit of a face cleanser whore. I never buy the same one twice. I use my face cleansers in the morning in the shower and tend to go for ones for dry or sensitive skin. I’ve been using this one for a couple of months and there is not much left. I don’t really have anything bad to say about it, it doesn’t dry my skin out and it is gentle, I have no reaction to it and for using in the shower it’s fine. It also smells good. I wouldn’t use it for removing makeup or anything though as it is too gentle. Oh and it doesn’t foam, at all. Probably won’t repurchase.

Aveda Replenishing Body Mosituriser

I quite like this moisturiser. It smells nice, kind of like plants and herbs, it’s quite a strong smell so might put some people off. Does it make me go wow! Not really, it moisturises my skin but it’s not the most amazing moisturiser I’ve ever used, I have really dry skin so it’s often a challenge for me to find something that really works. Will keep searching to find my holy grail.

Mehhhh – if I had to take it or leave it, I’d leave it

L’Oreal Lash Architect 4D

There are a lot of people who love this mascara but I am not one of them. It’s ok, I don’t really really hate it but I find it to be really gloopy and even brushing off loads of excess it still leaves gloops on my eyelashes. When it does work, it does make my lashes nice and long but with all the mascaras on the market I’d rather just get a non-gloopy one and save myself the hassle.

Models Own – 3 in 1 Base Coat, Top Coat & Gloss

Mehhh – it’s ok but I find when I use it my nail varnish peels off after about a day. Not a fan.

So that was what I was loving and not quite loving in September. What were your favourites?

I heart eye crayons

To be honest I only discovered eye crayons recently but I absolutely love them and I am making up for lost time. They make the days when I only have a 30 second timeframe to do my make-up so much easier. It would seem that I have developed quite a liking for the Sephora eye crayons, I love the range of colours they have and the texture is really smooth. They’re also waterproof so brilliant for the pool or beach and not ending up with panda eyes.

I currently have the taupe, beige, kaki, green and turquoise colours from the Sephora collection. My favourite is the taupe, it’s a really nice colour and is great worn on it’s own when I’m in a rush but I also like to wear it with Mac Sable.

The green and turquoise may look bright but I use them under the bottom lash line for a little pop of colour and I think they look fab.

My other crayon is one of the Nars Soft Touch Shadow pencils, this is the colour Aigle Noir. It’s black with a gold sparkle and I like to use it for a dark greeny gold smokey eye, sometimes with the Sephora Kaki crayon.

All this talk of eye crayons makes me want to go and get a new one..

Do you love eye crayons? Any recommendations for me? I know I don’t have any of the NYX jumbos, in fact I don’t own a single NYX product. I think I need to remedy that ASAP!

Beauty Expert Haul

A couple of weeks ago Beauty Expert had a bit of a sale on and as there were a few products that I was looking for I ended up buying a few bits

I was looking for

A Vitamin C Serum

Cleansing water

An exfoliating mask without grains for sensitive skin

High SPF (50+) face cream

Muslin Face Cloths

This is what I ended up buying:

I couldn’t find a vitamin C serum that I liked the look of so I ended up buying this Redness Relief Serum by Darphin. My skin gets very red, especially my cheeks and nose and when it’s cold I always look like Rudolph! I also got the Azahar cleansing water. I’ve never bought anything by Darphin before, and to be honest I didn’t even really know the brand so I guess it was a bit a risk to try two products by a brand I didn’t know and have never tested but the risk definitely paid off!

When I first tried out the serum I wasn’t keen on the smell, it smelled liked something old ladies would wear, however that was just the first time and now the smell doesn’t bother me. The texture is quite thin and watery but it absorbs quickly into my skin and I put my normal moisturiser on top. I wasn’t really impressed with this the first time I used it as I didn’t notice any difference in the redness in my cheeks but after a few days trying it I can confirm that it really works and it reduces the redness completely leaving me with normal toned skin.

The cleansing water smells absolutely fantastic, it’s really gentle on my skin and has a really nice texture and feel refreshing when cleansing. Love it.

They also included two mini Darphin samples in the box, one of the cleansing water and the other was the skin relief balm which I haven’t had a chance to try yet.

Next I was looking for an exfoliating mask, something that would leave my skin feeling really smooth and would get rid of the dry skin but wouldn’t irritate it as it can be very sensitive. I chose the REN F10 Smooth and Renew Mask, which is another brand that I’ve never tried but I absolutely love this product, it leaves my skin so soft and it smells great too. It didn’t irritate my skin at all. It even comes with it’s own little muslin cloth. Definite 10/10 for thisI’ve also been looking for a high SPF to wear under my moisturiser, or instead of my moisturiser so I got this Alpha H Daily Essential Moisturiser , somehow on the journey to me the lid had come off and the plastic seal had broken so that wasn’t great. I haven’t tried this out yet so no review for now.

I also wanted to get a muslin cloth as since I’ve been using the Liz Earle cleanse and polish I love using the muslin cloths but I never have enough. I got a natural muslin cloth from Pai, it’s ok but I find it to be a little rough and to be honest I prefer the Liz Earle ones. Finally I picked up this blending brush from Stila, it’s the number 9 and it is massive! I have used it for blending but I think I prefer something a little smaller, although it’s quite a good size for powdering under the eyesOverall I’m really pleased with my purchases, I especially like the little samples they included. While googling I came across the best advent calendar ever! Beauty Boxes in Spain

With the launch of yet another new beauty box in the UK (jealous!) (it’s Carmine in case you were wondering) I thought I’d give you an insight into the two beauty boxes we currently have available to us here in Spain. I love seeing what’s in beauty boxes even though I can’t get them here!

September brought the launch of Glossybox.es, I missed out on the first boxes as they sold out within hours so I’m eagerly awaiting what the October box has to bring.

The other beauty box has been around since around June I think, and I signed up last month. The box is called Glamourum. The packaging itself is quite original in the fact that the outside is made of wood and the cardboard box inside pulls out like a draw so it’s great for reusability.

So what was inside? Well wrapped inside the beauty box standard black tissue paper there were 5 products and the standard card explaining them all

Firstly there were two products from Spanish brand Ainhoa, who until now have mostly only provided products for beauty salons.

Both products came in their own little boxes, one of which was in this cute little pillow box tied with a ribbon.

The pen like object is for expression lines, it has a velvety covered tip and you twist it until the desired amount of product comes out and then you paint it into your expression lines, this was a full size. The second product is a diamond powder and caviar concentrate serumy type liquid and I’ve been trying it out, and I have to say it is a-maz-ing!!! My skin has never, ever felt so smooth. I am amazed by this product but the price is also pretty amazing as that tiny little pot worked out at something like 16€

Next I got 5 little oil samples from Alqvimia, there were 3 for post had removal, one for the body and one for the bust. The samples are quite small but I guess oil spreads a long wayNext came a pack of make-up removal wipes from Comodynes, I’m not a big fan of wipes but they’re useful for weekends away or wiping the makeup off my hand! It’s also a full six pack.

The fourth product was a face-mask from Apivita, I haven’t had a chance to use this yet but I’ll try it soon and let you know what I thinkThe last thing was a perfume, from Playboy.. To be fair, it’s quite a good size at 30ml and if I liked the smell, despite the lid having bunny ears, I would probably use it but unfortunately the scent is far too strong for me, it’s a really sweet smell and I know there are lots of people who probably love it but I guess that’s the problem with perfumes.

Finally when I signed up I was sent a voucher for a mini facial in Korres to try some of their products. I also ended up buying a couple of bits – the PH neutral shampoo and the wild rose face mask. I also got a couple of samples

MAC Lippies

I am not the world’s biggest lipstick fan but I do have a couple from MAC that I quite love

Voila Creme Cup

And Hue

Creme Cup above, Hue below

Not the most exciting shades in the world but I am convinced that most lipsticks look crap on me although I am slowly branching out into other colours. I do love Hue though, it’s a sheer palish pink that I think looks really pretty on
