Stylicious Scale of Fab to Mehh for September

Oh dear, it’s nearly the end of October and I still haven’t posted this!

I wanted to do a quick post of my favourites and not so favourites for September so, starting with the best

I have quite a few bits that I have been loving in September, 7 to be precise.

1. Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

I love Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, it’s the best cleanser and makeup remover I have ever used. It takes off all the grime and leaves my face really smooth. I only use it once a day, at night, to take off my make up and I have just run out and I now have a dilemma… knowing that I’ll be getting some for Christmas do I order some more or do I wait..??

2. Bliss Daily Moisturizer

This is a daily moisturizer with SPF 15. I first bought it a few months ago because it’s the perfect size and shape for taking on holiday in my hand luggage. It feels light on the skin and I love the smell – it’s kind of orangey and every time I smell it it’s like I’m on holiday again. It also claims to illuminate the skin but I don’t know about that, all I know is as a daily moisturiser for summer I love it, although for winter I’m gonna have to move on to something a bit heavier

3. Christian Dior – J’adore Eau de Parfum

I bought this to wear at my wedding as I was looking for something fresh and floral and jasminey because I absolutely love the smell of jasmines. As you can see I don’t have a lot left and I think this is gonna be a repurchase as it’s one of my favorite scents now

4. Ainhoa Caviar Concentrate with Diamond Powder

I got this in my Glamourum beauty box. It’s only a sample size, 5ml, but I have been using it as a serum before my moisturiser at night and it is amazing! I use the mini pipette to dab on a drop on each cheek and one on my forehead then rub it in and it leaves my skin so soft, it’s just fab. I would love to repurchase but firstly, I don’t know where I can get it from and secondly it’s pretty pricey.

5. Chanel Quartz nail polish

Love the colour, it’s so unusual. Have worn it a few times since I bought it, it’s not usual for me to repeat a colour so soon so this must be a keeper.

6. Urban Decay – Glide on cheek tint in SCORE

The day I bought this I wasn’t actually looking for a blush, or in fact anything at all but I bought it just to stop the Urban Decay MUA from plastering the whole collection onto my face. I did forget about it for a while but when I did get around to using it not only was I pleasantly surprised, I actually really like this product. I would say it’s kind of a cream blush with a touch of sparkle in a pinky peach colour. It’s so easy to use, I just apply it with my fingertips and I even use it on bare skin. It blends easily and I love the colour.

7. Benefit – Creaseless cream shadow in Sippin n Dippin

I believe this colour is discontinued but you can pick it up on one of the discount websites. This stuff is great for me, I am always in a rush in the morning so being able to pop a little of this on to my eyelids with my fingers and be ready to go is a dream come true. The golden peachy colour has been fab for summer although I may be retiring it for the winter.

Could do better

Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminée – 1st Wrinkle Cream

I find night creams to be a bit too heavy for my liking so I like to use normal creams with no SPF at night jointly with some kind of serum. I think this is quite good, it hydrates really well and sinks nicely into the skin. The problem is the smell, I guess because it’s made of grapes, it kind of smells like grapes, well no, actually it smells more like raisins. It took me a while to get used to the smell but my husband absolutely cannot stand it, I don’t use this every day but when I do there’s generally no goodnight kiss for me 😦 I’d love this with a different or no smell.

Christian Dior – Gentle foaming cleanser

To be fair I’m a bit of a face cleanser whore. I never buy the same one twice. I use my face cleansers in the morning in the shower and tend to go for ones for dry or sensitive skin. I’ve been using this one for a couple of months and there is not much left. I don’t really have anything bad to say about it, it doesn’t dry my skin out and it is gentle, I have no reaction to it and for using in the shower it’s fine. It also smells good. I wouldn’t use it for removing makeup or anything though as it is too gentle. Oh and it doesn’t foam, at all. Probably won’t repurchase.

Aveda Replenishing Body Mosituriser

I quite like this moisturiser. It smells nice, kind of like plants and herbs, it’s quite a strong smell so might put some people off. Does it make me go wow! Not really, it moisturises my skin but it’s not the most amazing moisturiser I’ve ever used, I have really dry skin so it’s often a challenge for me to find something that really works. Will keep searching to find my holy grail.

Mehhhh – if I had to take it or leave it, I’d leave it

L’Oreal Lash Architect 4D

There are a lot of people who love this mascara but I am not one of them. It’s ok, I don’t really really hate it but I find it to be really gloopy and even brushing off loads of excess it still leaves gloops on my eyelashes. When it does work, it does make my lashes nice and long but with all the mascaras on the market I’d rather just get a non-gloopy one and save myself the hassle.

Models Own – 3 in 1 Base Coat, Top Coat & Gloss

Mehhh – it’s ok but I find when I use it my nail varnish peels off after about a day. Not a fan.

So that was what I was loving and not quite loving in September. What were your favourites?

Benefit goodies

I love Benefit and while I was admiring the new They’re real mascara I couldn’t help but pick up a few other bits…

Benefit Erase Paste

Benefit Erase Paste medium

Firstly I got the Erase Paste in medium. This has a very thick consistency, almost too thick for my liking, I wouldn’t use it on it’s own as it settles in creases and when it dries just looks a bit crap, however mixed with a bit of my second purchase..

Benefit Ooh La Lift
Benefit Ooh La Lift 🙂

…the Benefit Ooh La Lift, it makes for a nicer consistency and an illuminating under eye concealer! I find using the Ooh La Lift alone makes my under eyes look a bit too pale so mixing these too products makes a great colour and it’s easier to apply without being thick and gloopy.

My third purchase was the Cha Cha Tint. I’ve never been very convinced by cheek tints but I absolutely love this, it’s the most gorgeous shade of orangey coral. Great for summer and I have worn it nearly every day since I got it for a little touch of colour on my cheeks. I’m guessing it’s gonna last forever as with three little dots on each cheek I have enough. A word of advice, dab your 3 dots on rub in and then do the other cheek, it’s amazing how fast this stuff dries and leaves 3 dot like marks on your face if you try and do both sides at the same time!

Cha Cha Tint

Gorgeous Colour

And my last purchase … They’re Real Mascara of course! I´ll do a separate review but I’ll just say I’ve worn it every day since I bought it (about a month) and I LOVE it!

They’re Real Mascara

Just as a PS, I also bought a Benefit cream eyeshadow from It’s shade Sippin n Dippin, a gorgeous peachy, goldy shade which is brilliant if you’ve only got a few minutes to put your slap on. I just pop a bit on my eyelids, bit of eyeliner, bit of mascara and i’m good to go
