Stylicious Scale of Fab to Mehh for October

FAB!

1. Darphins Cleansing Water

Love the smell, love how kind it is on my skin, love how it cleans the last traces of dirt of. Love everything. Keeper.

2. Marc Jacobs Pear Splash

This was a limited edition eau de toilette that Marc Jacobs brought out quite a while ago but I have such a large bottle it’s lasting me forever and I wear it nearly every day but I’m finally getting to the end of the bottle! It’s a light floral smell great for every day

3. Illamasqua – Stagnate

Think this colour is great for Autumn and I love the way it looks on my nails. This is my new favorite shade

4. Chanel Illusion d’ombre

O M G – this eyeshadow is definitely FABULOUS. I am in love with it. It’s not something I can wear every day because of the extreme sparkle but it’s amazing. It makes my eyes look amazing, it’s magic. Are you sold yet? I love all of the colours, even the white colour (fantasme) looks like millions of tiny diamonds

Could do better

Nails Inc Balmoral

I think this is a nice neutral colour but I find the application really difficult and gloopy, I don’t know whether mine has just dried up a bit… maybe I’ll try adding that stuff to make it runnier

Sephora Eye Makeup Remover

This claims that it will not leave an oily residue on your eyes. That is a lie. It removes your eye makeup but in doing so leaves your eyes feeling very oily.. I hate that feeling so won’t be repurchasing

Alqvuimia Body Oil

I received this in my first beauty box from Glamourum, it was only a tiny sample, enough to do both legs and a bit twice but… I didn’t really find it to be a miracle worker., I didn’t notice that my legs were particularly moisturised or looking great so think I’m gonna stick to my body lotions, body oil is not for me.

Mehhh

Comodynes Make Up remover wipes

I got these in one of my beauty boxes. I don’t tend to use face wipes but I decided to take them with me to a wedding suspecting that I wouldn’t have 100% of my faculties at the end of the night and that wipes would probably be the safest bet. They’re not bad at removing makeup but they have a really strong perfumed scent that I absolutely cannot stand, give me a Johnson’s baby wipe any day.

What were your October favourites?

Stylicious Scale of Fab to Mehh for September

Oh dear, it’s nearly the end of October and I still haven’t posted this!

I wanted to do a quick post of my favourites and not so favourites for September so, starting with the best

FAB!

I have quite a few bits that I have been loving in September, 7 to be precise.

1. Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish

I love Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, it’s the best cleanser and makeup remover I have ever used. It takes off all the grime and leaves my face really smooth. I only use it once a day, at night, to take off my make up and I have just run out and I now have a dilemma… knowing that I’ll be getting some for Christmas do I order some more or do I wait..??

2. Bliss Daily Moisturizer

This is a daily moisturizer with SPF 15. I first bought it a few months ago because it’s the perfect size and shape for taking on holiday in my hand luggage. It feels light on the skin and I love the smell – it’s kind of orangey and every time I smell it it’s like I’m on holiday again. It also claims to illuminate the skin but I don’t know about that, all I know is as a daily moisturiser for summer I love it, although for winter I’m gonna have to move on to something a bit heavier

3. Christian Dior – J’adore Eau de Parfum

I bought this to wear at my wedding as I was looking for something fresh and floral and jasminey because I absolutely love the smell of jasmines. As you can see I don’t have a lot left and I think this is gonna be a repurchase as it’s one of my favorite scents now

4. Ainhoa Caviar Concentrate with Diamond Powder

I got this in my Glamourum beauty box. It’s only a sample size, 5ml, but I have been using it as a serum before my moisturiser at night and it is amazing! I use the mini pipette to dab on a drop on each cheek and one on my forehead then rub it in and it leaves my skin so soft, it’s just fab. I would love to repurchase but firstly, I don’t know where I can get it from and secondly it’s pretty pricey.

5. Chanel Quartz nail polish

Love the colour, it’s so unusual. Have worn it a few times since I bought it, it’s not usual for me to repeat a colour so soon so this must be a keeper.

6. Urban Decay – Glide on cheek tint in SCORE

The day I bought this I wasn’t actually looking for a blush, or in fact anything at all but I bought it just to stop the Urban Decay MUA from plastering the whole collection onto my face. I did forget about it for a while but when I did get around to using it not only was I pleasantly surprised, I actually really like this product. I would say it’s kind of a cream blush with a touch of sparkle in a pinky peach colour. It’s so easy to use, I just apply it with my fingertips and I even use it on bare skin. It blends easily and I love the colour.

7. Benefit – Creaseless cream shadow in Sippin n Dippin

I believe this colour is discontinued but you can pick it up on one of the discount websites. This stuff is great for me, I am always in a rush in the morning so being able to pop a little of this on to my eyelids with my fingers and be ready to go is a dream come true. The golden peachy colour has been fab for summer although I may be retiring it for the winter.

Could do better

Caudalie Pulpe Vitaminée – 1st Wrinkle Cream

I find night creams to be a bit too heavy for my liking so I like to use normal creams with no SPF at night jointly with some kind of serum. I think this is quite good, it hydrates really well and sinks nicely into the skin. The problem is the smell, I guess because it’s made of grapes, it kind of smells like grapes, well no, actually it smells more like raisins. It took me a while to get used to the smell but my husband absolutely cannot stand it, I don’t use this every day but when I do there’s generally no goodnight kiss for me 😦 I’d love this with a different or no smell.

Christian Dior – Gentle foaming cleanser

To be fair I’m a bit of a face cleanser whore. I never buy the same one twice. I use my face cleansers in the morning in the shower and tend to go for ones for dry or sensitive skin. I’ve been using this one for a couple of months and there is not much left. I don’t really have anything bad to say about it, it doesn’t dry my skin out and it is gentle, I have no reaction to it and for using in the shower it’s fine. It also smells good. I wouldn’t use it for removing makeup or anything though as it is too gentle. Oh and it doesn’t foam, at all. Probably won’t repurchase.

Aveda Replenishing Body Mosituriser

I quite like this moisturiser. It smells nice, kind of like plants and herbs, it’s quite a strong smell so might put some people off. Does it make me go wow! Not really, it moisturises my skin but it’s not the most amazing moisturiser I’ve ever used, I have really dry skin so it’s often a challenge for me to find something that really works. Will keep searching to find my holy grail.

Mehhhh – if I had to take it or leave it, I’d leave it

L’Oreal Lash Architect 4D

There are a lot of people who love this mascara but I am not one of them. It’s ok, I don’t really really hate it but I find it to be really gloopy and even brushing off loads of excess it still leaves gloops on my eyelashes. When it does work, it does make my lashes nice and long but with all the mascaras on the market I’d rather just get a non-gloopy one and save myself the hassle.

Models Own – 3 in 1 Base Coat, Top Coat & Gloss

Mehhh – it’s ok but I find when I use it my nail varnish peels off after about a day. Not a fan.

So that was what I was loving and not quite loving in September. What were your favourites?

A present from my husband and a present from myself

Wandering amongst the makeup stands a few weeks ago something beautiful caught my eye. How I had missed it before that day I’ll never know as I’ve seen hundreds of blog posts about it since, but there before me was the Peridot nail varnish by Chanel.

I must’ve been admiring it for quite a while when husband came over and offered to buy it for me. I knew that he, not being familiar with the world of beauty, would balk at the price of a simple nail varnish, so I asked him if he realized that this wasn’t just any nail varnish so it wasn’t gonna come cheap. His initial guess of 40€ was sufficiently high for the real price to be considered a good deal plus with a 10% discount it was an out and out bargain (well perhaps not quite). Thanks hubby!

The very next day I painted my nails Peridot and basked in their beauty. The colour is green but gold, gold but green… it’s so unusual that quite a few people have commented on it. Even one person who didn’t like it.. must be colour blind.

Twittering about my new love, I was delighted when a blogger I have followed for years and has recently started blogging again recommended that I get Quartz, which I had been planning to get in October. However through fear that it might run out I had to get it straight away.. am I glad I did. I love it even more than Peridot – it’s such a gorgeous colour, it sounds weird but I could stare at my nails all day long!

While we’re on the subject, I don’t want to leave out another Chanel fave – Black Pearl. I also love this, I does actually look like the colour of a black pearl

Chanel always have the most fabulous colours for nails, I only wish I was as fabulous as painting it on!
